The Three Species Behind Tasmanian Oak

E. regnans runs lighter in tone and slightly softer. E. obliqua is denser, a shade darker, and often shows prominent gum veins. E. delegatensis sits between the two with more visible growth rings. Tasmania's cool, wet and dry native forests provide ideal growing conditions for all three.

Because sawmills process the species together, any given pack may contain boards from all three trees. This natural variation accounts for the timber's broad colour range and is considered a feature.
